Gosalda Hydroelectric Power Plant is run-of-river diversion scheme with two intakes.
The two intakes are on Gosalda Stream and on its tributary Nagher. Each intake is composed by weir, fish ladder, lateral intake, gravel deposition chamber, desander and valve chamber.
The cast iron penstock passes through a particularly problematic area from a geological/geotechnical point of view: hence both the design and the realization of the waterways had required a particular care. Moreover, the last stretch of the penstock runs along a steep slope, with the consequent structural and constructional challenges.

The aboveground powerhouse is located near an abandoned village named California on the left side of Mis stream, of which Gosalda is tributary. It housed one production group with Pelton type turbine. The tailrace leads to Mis stream.
During the preparation of the Executive design the general layout of the power plant has been reviewed and optimized, mainly for as regards the location of the Nagher intake structure and the number of units. All these optimizations have been developed in compliance with the dire constraints due to the Italian laws.
ZOLLET Ingegneria has assisted and advised the Client in the assignment phase and evaluating the proposal of optimization submitted to the client by the providers of electrical and mechanical machinery and equipments.
